🍔 Ingredients (Makes 12 sliders):
-
1 lb ground beef (80/20 recommended)
-
1 small onion, finely chopped
-
Salt & pepper, to taste
-
1 tbsp oil or butter
-
6 slices American cheese (or cheddar, if preferred)
-
12 slider buns (Hawaiian rolls or mini brioche work great)
-
Shredded lettuce
-
Sliced tomatoes
-
Pickles (optional)
-
Ketchup and mayo, for topping
🔪 Instructions:
1. Prep the buns:
-
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
-
Slice slider buns horizontally (keep the tops and bottoms connected if using a sheet of rolls for easier assembly).
-
Lightly toast in the oven or a pan for a minute or two. Optional: spread a bit of butter or mayo before toasting.
2. Cook the beef:
-
Heat oil or butter in a skillet over medium heat.
-
Add chopped onions and sauté until soft and slightly caramelized (about 3–4 minutes).
-
Add ground beef, breaking it up into small pieces with your spatula.
-
Season with salt and pepper.
-
Once browned and cooked through, keep breaking it into a fine, chopped texture — this is key!
3. Add the cheese:
-
Once the meat is fully cooked, reduce heat to low.
-
Place slices of American cheese over the chopped beef mixture.
-
Cover the skillet briefly to melt the cheese, then stir it all together until melty and incorporated.
4. Assemble the sliders:
-
Layer the cheesy beef onto the bottom half of the buns.
-
Add shredded lettuce, sliced tomato, and optional pickles.
-
Drizzle with ketchup and mayo (or mix the two for a quick burger sauce).
-
Top with the slider bun tops.
5. (Optional) Bake to finish:
-
Brush the tops with melted butter and sprinkle sesame seeds or garlic powder.
-
Bake in the oven for 5–7 minutes, until warm and slightly crispy.
