🧀 Chopped Cheese Sliders Recipe

🍔 Ingredients (Makes 12 sliders):

  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 recommended)

  • 1 small onion, finely chopped

  • Salt & pepper, to taste

  • 1 tbsp oil or butter

  • 6 slices American cheese (or cheddar, if preferred)

  • 12 slider buns (Hawaiian rolls or mini brioche work great)

  • Shredded lettuce

  • Sliced tomatoes

  • Pickles (optional)

  • Ketchup and mayo, for topping

🔪 Instructions:

1. Prep the buns:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).

  • Slice slider buns horizontally (keep the tops and bottoms connected if using a sheet of rolls for easier assembly).

  • Lightly toast in the oven or a pan for a minute or two. Optional: spread a bit of butter or mayo before toasting.

2. Cook the beef:

  • Heat oil or butter in a skillet over medium heat.

  • Add chopped onions and sauté until soft and slightly caramelized (about 3–4 minutes).

  • Add ground beef, breaking it up into small pieces with your spatula.

  • Season with salt and pepper.

  • Once browned and cooked through, keep breaking it into a fine, chopped texture — this is key!

3. Add the cheese:

  • Once the meat is fully cooked, reduce heat to low.

  • Place slices of American cheese over the chopped beef mixture.

  • Cover the skillet briefly to melt the cheese, then stir it all together until melty and incorporated.

4. Assemble the sliders:

  • Layer the cheesy beef onto the bottom half of the buns.

  • Add shredded lettuce, sliced tomato, and optional pickles.

  • Drizzle with ketchup and mayo (or mix the two for a quick burger sauce).

  • Top with the slider bun tops.

5. (Optional) Bake to finish:

  • Brush the tops with melted butter and sprinkle sesame seeds or garlic powder.

  • Bake in the oven for 5–7 minutes, until warm and slightly crispy.
